  • Description:

As library employees, we share a special role for UBC students. The library is a safe space, often one of solace, and we represent that safety and feeling of trust. UBC Library employees engage with students in a nuanced way; both front-of-line and liaison roles include supporting student wellness and wellbeing.

Building upon the previous Student Wellness November session that focused on framing conversations, this workshop will be 50 minutes in length and offer a comprehensive overview of resources available to students.

Wellness Resources: UBC has many resources to help support the health and wellness of students. Find out more about what is available and how to connect with these resources. By the end of this session, you will be able to:

    • Name and understand the UBC resources that support student wellbeing

    • Identify how to connect with a resource to help a student

Green Folder: Everyone plays an important role in supporting student mental health and wellbeing. The Green folder is a quick guide for faculty and staff to know what to look for, say, and do when having a supportive conversation with a student. This session serves as an introduction to the Green Folder as a resource for faculty and staff.

We all play a key role in noticing when a student might be struggling. This training session will prepare you to assist students and facilitate practical solutions for students in distress.

The workshop will be help in the new UBC Life Building's multipurpose room (rm. 1501).
